Examination of teacher candidates' communication skills according to different variables

摘要
The aim of the present study is to examine education faculty students' communication skills according to such variables as gender, class level and department. The study was carried out during the 2010-2011 academic year with 143 students studying at the Elementary Education Department, the Mathematics Education Program, the Turkish Education Department and the Preschool Education Program. The likert type attitude scale prepared by Korkut was administered to the teacher candidates studying at the Education Faculty of Uludag University. The data obtained was analyzed with using SPSS program. In the statistical analysis of the data, t-test and anova were applied for the parametric data and Mann Whitney U test was used for the non-parametric data. In the statistical analyses, the significance level (p value) was taken as 0.05. Significant differences were found between the university students' communication skills and such variables as departments and class level. However, no significant difference was determined between the students' communication skills and gender.
