摘要：
Euthanasia and physician-assisted suicide are pertinent and topical issues for the elderly and medically ill. Concern exists over recognition of demoralization and depression in these patients. Dutch guidelines for euthanasia of the mentally ill are disturbing. The role of the psychiatrist is challenging, with potential boundary violations generating ethical concern.
