摘要：

Guardrails on bridges have to fulfill specific normative requirements which can be only verified by impact tests. For successful approval, however, pre-design of the guardrail is recommended on the basis of numerical simulations. In this context, a simplified computation method is presented in this paper with special focus on the modeling, numerical stability and iterative design procedure. Finally, a comparison between impact forces due to German standard and due to numerical simulation is drawn.
