摘要
In this paper, an efficient checkpointing scheme is proposed for mobile computing environment. It uses communication-induced checkpointing. A new concept of forced checkpoints, different from the existing one, is incorporated to ensure a reduced re-execution after recovery. The proposed algorithm runs periodically to determine the set of the globally consistent checkpoints (GCC) as in the synchronous approach. Thus, the recovery is as simple as in the synchronous approach, even though unlike in the synchronous approach processes need not be synchronized while determining a consistent global state. This recovery method has been shown to be less demanding on the unique attributes of mobile computing environments, namely the limited network bandwidth, power, and storage space.
