Progress in the field of inter- and intramolecular additions of oxygen nucleophiles (water, alcohols, phenols, and carboxylic acids) to allenes, allenes, alkynes, and nitriles catalyzed by Co, Rh, Ir, Ni, Pd, and Pt is critically reviewed.
