Entrepreneurial self-efficacy in transition economy of China

Based on social cognition and self-efficacy theory, this study examined the self-efficacy of entrepreneurs in the transition economy of China. The complex interaction among transition environment, government support, entrepreneurial self-efficacy and performance outcomes was analyzed by using structural equation modeling. The results showed that ESE had direct and mediating impact on entrepreneurial performance. The findings contributed to better understand entrepreneurship and have implications for entrepreneurial practice in countries undergoing the difficult process of transition to a market economy.
