Magnetic drift in single depolarizer interferometric fiber-optic gyroscopes induced by orthogonal magnetic field

摘要
We proposed a theory that an orthogonal magnetic field (OMF), vertical to the light propagating direction in fiber-optics, can induce a non-reciprocal phase difference (NPD) in single depolarizer interferometric fiber-optic gyroscopes (SD-IFOGs). The relational mathematical model is established. The theoretical simulation and experimental results show that the orthogonal magnetic drift in the SD-IFOG, randomly distributed within a certain range, is independent of the incident angle on the depolarizer side but closely related to that on another side of the fiber coil. By shifting the incident angle on the nondepolarizer side, the OMF induced NPD, in the SD-IFOG, varies accordingly around zero point.
