Improvement in the burning rate of a rocket propellant through radiation curing

摘要
Properties of atypical composite rocket propellant-ammonium perchlorate/hydroxyl terminated polybutadiene base-have been investigated following gamma radiation treatment during the curing process. The product showed larger values of burning rate and pressure index as compared to those obtained for the samples that were cured thermally. The higher burning rate is attributed to the lowering in density of the irradiated product. Results are explained on the basis of radiation induced interphase reactions at the surface of AP.
