摘要
The food and drinks industry is an important industrial sector for all countries. With this in mind the UIE set up a Working Group whose task was to produce a brochure which would highlight the energy efficient use of electricity in processes concerned with the production of food and drinks products. Although the primary target audience for this brochure is the manufacturing companies of food and drinks products, it has been designed to promote the energy efficient role of electricity to government departments, environmentalists and other influencers. The food and drinks industry is characterised by its complexity, both in the variety of its sub-sectors and in the processing techniques employed. The brochure sets the scene for the benefit of those not intimately associated with the industry. A brief summary of established techniques is given with references to more detailed sources of information. A most important feature of the brochure is the compilation of about thirty case histories taken from around the world. These detail the benefits which specific users have gained through a switch to electro-technology.
