摘要
Developing and introducing a new product in healthcare environment is different compared to other industries. This paper describes the challenges faced while introducing a new product to the domain of healthcare industry. Developing a problem statement, conceptual design development, scoring and selecting the concept and detailed design, prototyping, testing and introducing the new product will be the major steps followed in the new product introduction lifecycle. This paper describes the new product introduction lifecycle followed by medical equipment manufacturers. The paper is the result of NPI made while minding the mechanical and electrical constraints on the new product, examples of which are described wherever necessary.
