摘要
The developments of City's infrastructural plays a vital role in the development of smart cities. The critical deterioration of transportation infrastructure including highways, tunnels, and bridges, has serious environmental, and economical impact. With the development of materials science and technology, new methods of monitoring, assessing, rehabilitation and repair these infrastructure found their applications in civil engineering. Incorporation of information and communication technologies (ICT) for real-time interaction, and the use of smart materials are the key of smart structure system. Therefore, in this paper types of smart materials, their applications in smart structure, and concept of smart structures focusing on smart bridges were introduced. A framework for smart technique and components of smart bridge systems was proposed towards the development of smart city and Sustainable Environment. Finally, this research could be the base for more research in the field of smart structure system and their applications in Oman.
