摘要
Various amounts of vanadium were added into the polycrystalline Terfenol-D alloy; Tb0.3Dy0.7Fe2, to investigate its effect on microstructure, hardness and magnetostrictive properties. The studied Tb0.3Dy0.7(Fe1-xVx)(2) alloys were prepared by are-melting and homogenization. V was found to enter and replace Fe sublattices up to x = 0.2. As increasing V content, saturation magnetization and magnetostriction at 2 Tesla (lambda(2T)) decrease slightly up to x=0.1. and enormously at x=0.2, while remanence and coercivity increase. Hardness of the x=0.05 alloy (3.33at% V) is the highest among the studied alloys. The lambda(2T) value can be maintained at higher than 900 ppm for alloys with x less than or equal to 0.1. (6.67 at %V). Porosity is high for the x greater than or equal to 0.1 alloys.
