摘要
This paper discusses a methodology for using post-disaster information to evaluate and improve the accuracy of flood maps. It identifies and discusses the types of data that should be collected during post-flood disaster investigations and errors in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and floodplain mapping and their causes. It suggests methods for using data collected in the field to improve the accuracy of flood maps. Some errors are rooted in the deterministic approach of hydrologic and hydraulic studies currently used in preparing flood maps. It would be valuable to incorporate uncertainties in flood mapping.
