Generation and detection of shear waves in a rubber-like medium by means of focused ultrasound

摘要
A scheme has proposed and implemented for the excitation and recording of shear waves in rubber-like media by means of ultrasound. The shear wave is excited in the sample by the absorption of an intense focused ultrasonic pulse of submillisecond duration. The profile of the resultant shear wave and its velocity have been determined by means of a focusing transducer from the displacement of a microparticle dragged by the shear wave. The measured value of the shear wave velocity agrees with that calculated using the shear modulus determined by an independent method.
