Photonic nanojets of micro-gold tubes

A micro-gold tube illuminated by a TM-polarization plane wave is numerically investigated based on the finite element method. It is found that photonic nanojet (PNJ) can be obtained by a designated micro-gold tube. Basic properties of these PNJs are studied. By comparing these simulation results with PNJs formed by the same diameter dielectric cylinder, I can find that the electric field enhancement can be huger. This phenomenon indicates plasmon resonance can enhance the intensity of PNJs and that can be transmitted to the far field using our designed structure. (C) 2019 The Japan Society of Applied Physics
