High temperature normal spectral emissivity measurements (600-1500 degrees C, lambda = 905 nm) were performed on advanced thermal sprayed coatings. The coatings included advanced ceramic materials such as tantalum carbide, hafnium diboride, zirconium diboride, hafnium oxide, and tantalum nitride. These coatings were deposited onto niobium substrates via Vacuum Plasma Spray (VPS) forming techniques. This paper will discuss the apparatus used to perform the elevated temperature emissivity measurements and the results of the experiments.
