History of Hungarian contactology

In the 1930s and 1940s the Hungarian contactologists played a very important role in the development of contactology. The names of the contactologists Istvan Csapody, Jozsef Dallos and Istvan Gyorffy are known worldwide. In the contrast with this leading position, however, in consequence of political and economic problems the progress later stopped. Since the end of the 1980s, with the political and economic changes in Hungary, Hungarian contactology has been developing rapidly. Today it occupies a leading position among the former eastern bloc countries and is on a comperable level to that in the developed countries.
