Modified IP Passing Scheme to Check Correctness of Passed IP in VANET

摘要
Vehicular ad-hoc network (VANET) is a new emerging area of research; it consists of many challenging issues for implementing intelligent transportation system in real world scenario. Nowadays academic and industry is concerned about supporting vehicular network with seamless communication so that vehicles in an interconnected form transmit information to avoid traffic jams, accidents etc. and act intelligently. In VANET vehicles form the highly mobile network; due to high mobility vehicles frequently disconnect from internet, when vehicle enters into new area of network significant amount of time is used for acquiring an IP address from DHCP server, for reducing IP acquisition time IP passing schemes are defined. In IP passing scheme vehicle leaving the network area will pass its IP to the vehicle which is either entering in the network area or resides in the area. The node passing the IP can act maliciously to disrupt the connectivity of vehicle to the internet; if node modify the passing IP address, traditional IP passing scheme has no provision to check whether correct IP address is passed generator not. In this paper the scheme validate the source i.e. generator of IP using digital signature and also checks the correctness of passed IP address.
