Research data management (RDM) is important to support research data sharing in open science, as well as to enhance the transparency of the research process. However, there are still very few staff trained in research data management in Japan. Therefore, the Open Access Repository Promotion Association, known as JPCOAR, organized a research data task force and developed a training tool to teach research data management skills. National Institute of Informatics (NII) collaborated with the JPCOAR to launch an online course "Research data management in the open science era" on November 15, 2017. In this paper, we discuss development and analysis of the online RDM training course.
