摘要
The working-out of the banking strategy consists of the activity by which managers establish the objectives, the time intervals in which these must be achieved, the phases and methods to achieve the objectives and the necessary resources in order for them to come into effect. The strategic scheduling avoids errors, losses and delays and they also transform the efforts into results, thus representing the first function of banking management. The efficient practical transposition of the strategic process implies going through several stages. From the evaluation of the developed European banking systems one can appreciate that banks will evolve in the sense of concentration, which is achieved as well as by the takeover of the small banks by the larger ones and by the fusion or alliance of some financial and banking institutions, but also by the specialization according to the respective market sector. The strategy of the Romanian commercial banks must take into consideration the nature and major changes which appear in the world banking sector, as an effect of the globalization of the banking activity, and the affiliation to a certain strategy will be submitted to some conditions related to the competition of the bank, to the banking products and services, as well as to the aimed client sections.
