摘要
Continuous water quality monitoring is important to the aquaculture industry but having this in real-time and accurate is expensive. Designing a multi-parameter portable water monitoring device will help fishermen maintain good water quality for the aquaculture. The system used a microcontroller to process data coming from the sensor node. The sensor nodes included a temperature sensor, pH probe, electrical conductivity probe and dissolved oxygen probe for water quality monitoring; Arduino mega 2560 microcontroller was used to communicate with the personal computer via serial port to store data to the database. The pH, electrical conductivity and temperature reading accuracy was 98.097%, 99.876% and 99.24% respectively, whereas its precision was characterized by an average standard deviation of 0.0151, 28.1 mu s and 0.127 degrees C respectively. The dissolved oxygen reading accuracy has a mean error of 0.0662 mg/L, whereas its precision was characterized by an average standard deviation of 0.03342 mg/L.
