Thermodynamic perturbative approach for confined sticky hard-sphere fluids

A density functional approximation, which is based on both the hybrid weighted-density approximation of Leidl and Wagner for the reference term and the simple-weighted-density approximation of Denton and Ashcroft corresponding to the remaining contribution, has been proposed to study the structural properties of sticky hard-sphere fluids. The approximation has been applied to calculate the density profiles of sticky hard-sphere fluids confined by structureless hard walls, and the results have:been compared with those from available computer simulations. The calculated results have shown that the proposed approximation is better than the Choudhury-Ghosh approximation, and they compare well with the results from the computer simulation. However, for strong adhesiveness, the agreement with the computer simulations deteriorates with increasing fluid densities.
