Ferromagnetic clusters on disordered Si-doped Ni3Mn alloys

The magnetic structured of disordered (Ni3-xSix)Mn alloys have been examined by polarized neutron scattering at a temperature range down to 2 K. Neutron powder diffraction showed the existence of atomic short-range order. Diffuse neutron scattering measurements revealed the presence of both ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic correlation. The ferromagnetic correlation is enhanced as x is increased. Ferromagnetic clusters, with a gy ration radius of about 8 Angstrom are present, the size of which varies little with temperature or composition.
