摘要
In the 74.2 GHz, 100 kW pulse (tau = 30 - 60 mu s) gyrotron, influence of electron emission inhomogeneity and low-frequency oscillations (LFOs) on the quality of helical electron beams (HEBs) and on the gyrotron efficiency were investigated. Electron transverse velocity spread and inhomogeneity of HEB spatial structure caused by azimuthal nonuniformity of electron emission current were determined. An influence of cathode emission inhomogeneity and non-uniform magnetic field in the region of adiabatic compression of HEBs on LFOs was investigated, and a possibility for suppressing these parasitic oscillations while maintaining the output power and efficiency at acceptable levels was shown. The requirements for emission homogeneity of gyrotron cathodes were formulated.
