摘要
In this work, the Monte Carlo ball-point detector estimator (BPDE) is presented and its good performance relative to the accuracy of point flux calculations is demonstrated. This new estimator consists of eliminating the standard point-detector estimator (PDE) singularity This is accomplished by making all contributions towards a sphere around the point of interest. When the collisions occur inside the sphere, it is considered that all directions in the hemisphere comprised by the collision point and the direction to the center of the sphere, are elegible for possible contributions. The results indicate that this new formalism may be more accurate than other commonly used methods. The method can be easily included in standard Monte Carlo transport codes.
