Point feeding for constant alumina concentration in Soderberg cells

摘要：
This paper presents an algorithm for alumina point feeding in Soderberg cells at a Brazilian smelter. The developed algorithm is a variation of the "demand feeding" algorithm, where the pot is fed according to its demand of alumina. The main objective of the algorithm developed is to keep alumina concentration in the bath as constant as possible. The revised operational procedures and the improvements in the pot line overall efficiency due to the point feeding are presented and discussed.
