A new metal-organic framework, [Mn(DDA)0.5(phen)(H2O)2 center dot 2H2O]n (1) (H4DDA = 4,4' -diazenediyldiphthalic acid and phen = 1,10-phenanthroline) have been syntheiszed through hydrogen methods and characterized by IR and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. It crystallizes in triclinic, space group p-1 with a = 9.432(11) angstrom, b = 10.697(12) angstrom, c = 10.751(12) angstrom, = 87.95(2)degrees, = 67.76(1)degrees, = 76.08(2)degrees, Z = 2. The complex exhibits interesting 1D chain structure containing dinuclear Mn subunits, which is further extended into 2D supramolecuar double chain framework via - interactions.
