摘要
We analyze the problem of image quality assessment from economics point of view with two main arguments: 1) Visual contents is a kind of product (good/service) to be utilized by consumers and therefore the image quality assessment process can be modeled using the tools from economics, e.g the law of diminishing marginal utility/returns, the expected utility theory and the principle of risk aversion. 2) The subjective quality rating of a given visual signal is better depicted with a probability distribution than a deterministic value.
