The Uzawa-Lucas growth model is modified to incorporate unskilled labour as a distinct factor from human capital. The modified model is then used to discuss the effects of demographic shocks on optimal growth and human capital investment. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
