Indigenous Development of Ka-Band Radar for Cloud Profiling in India

摘要
Studies on cloud microphysics, cloud intra structure on vertical/3D scale, its evolution in time and space in real time has not been carried out much in India due to non availability of indigenous ka-band cloud prifiling radar system. The high cost & maintenance of the imported system has prohibited Indian scientists to procure such radars in numbers. Persistant requirement put forward by Indian Atmospheric scientists and meteorologists, SAMEER has ventured into the development of such radar. One system is being built at ka-band @ 35.6 GHz and is in its advance stage of integration. This paper gives the detail description of the system and few test results of the sub-sysytems.
