摘要
In the following paperwork an analysis and characterization of the traffic in an IP -based networks have been made. An efficient and inexpensive method for monitoring of these kinds of network has been proposed. The used tools are so selected that they can provide enough information for characterizing the traffic in the monitored communication networks. Measurements are carried out and the monitored parameters are: the usability of the ports from a particular protocol, types of protocols, generated information, the packet sizes and etc. Approximations have been made by special software. The made approximations are for the packet size and the moments between entries of the packets.
