Evaluation of Tawron fibre strength distribution from single fibre tests

摘要
The tensile behaviors of a filament bundle are usually determined by the properties of the Constituent filaments. However, if the breaking load of a filament bundle is just predicted by summarizing the breaking loads of the constituent filaments, differences are quite obvious due to the discrepancies of the constituent filaments. Therefore, the strength distribution of Twaron fibre is evaluated by the single fibre tests in the present paper. And the experimental results are analysed by nonlinear fitting with the Weibull distribution. In addition, the tensile tests with different gauge lengths are also performed to investigate the effect of length on the statistical parameters. The results reveal that the strength of Twaron fibre can be described by the Weibull distribution, and the shape parameter of Twaron fibres is nearly 9. Furthermore, the gauge length in the present experiment does not affect the distribution of strength apparently.
