Effect of intermediate solvents on poly(ether ether ketone)

摘要：
The effect of methylene chloride, tetrahydrofuran, and acetone on amorphous PEEK was studied by means of various complementary techniques. Dynamic solvent uptake measurements allowed the diffusion of the solvents to be analyzed. Molecular modeling was used to determine the solvation energy of each system. Differential scanning calorimetry, wide-angle X-ray diffraction, and small-angle X-ray scattering showed that all three solvents induced crystallization in amorphous PEEK, even acetone which left the sample translucent upon exposure.
