Synthesis of Nitrilotriacetato(2-)(diethylenetriamine)cobalt(III) and the Crystal Structure of Its Compound with Chloromercurate(II) Ions

摘要
A mixed-ligand cobalt complex with the nitrilotriacetic acid anion (HNta(2-)) and diethylenetriamine (Dien) is synthesized in which both ligands are symmetrically (HNta(2-) through the N atom and two O atoms) coordinated face-on to the octahedron. The X-ray diffraction analysis of [Co(HNta) Dien]Hg2Cl5 center dot 2H(2)O was carried out [triclinic crystals, a = 9.542(2) angstrom, b = 36.195(5) angstrom, c = 7.4261(8) angstrom, beta = 114.775(8)degrees, Z = 4, space group Cc, lambda MoK alpha, R-1 = 0.0482 for 2446 reflections]. In addition to the ionic complex [Co(HNta) Dien](+) containing the protonated uncoordinated acetate group, the crystals contain water molecules, HgCl2 molecules, and tetrahedral mercury(II)chloro complexes sharing one of their vertices to form infinite chains [Cl2Hg(mu-Cl)](n)(n-).
