摘要
The paper presents the possibility of using design of experiment approach by applying Taguchi method to optimize the design of electric motors and to improve their output characteristics. It is noted that optimization can be applied to any system design parameter considering user defined goal. It is shown that Taguchi method is accurate, simple and reliable approach that allows determining the most optimal combinations of parameters for stated objective in highly efficient computational time. On the basis of this optimization method the permanent magnet electrical motor design was optimized by using two different optimization goals, the first one was the reduction of the motor volume and the second one was to maximize its efficiency.
