Metasurface-based Polarization Insensitive Absorber for C, X, Ku and K bands Applications

摘要
This paper presents a metasurface-based multiband absorber in microwave frequency regime. The proposed metasurface absorbs electromagnetic (EM) waves in four different frequency bands: C-Band (7.75 - 7.88 GHz), X-band (11.084 - 11.183 GHz), Ku Band (13.99 - 14.22 GHz) and Ka Band (18.185 - 18.993 GHz). The unit cell of the periodic metasurface consists of a metallic star-shaped structure printed on 2.4mm thick FR4 substrate backed by a metallic ground plane. The full-wave numerical results show that absorption efficiencies are above 90% in all frequency bands. The C4-symmetry of the unit cell makes the response of metasurface exactly same for both x- and y-polarized incident waves.
