Reflection coefficients of partial standing waves

In this paper, theoretic analysis and experimental study are combined to investigate the reflection characteristics of partial standing waves. Based on the study of Mizuguchi (1993), the third-order Stocks wave theory was used to formulate the reflection coefficient of regular incident waves to a vertical wall. Analyses indicate that the improvement is more reasonable than the previous ones. After analyzing the effects of non-dimensional parameters on the reflection coefficient, a semi-empirical equation for calculating the reflection coefficient was derived for engineering application by regressive analysis.
