A microscopic study of the dynamics of dilute He-3-He-4 mixtures

We study microscopically the dynamical response S(q, w) to inelastic neutron scattering of dilute mixtures of liquid He-3 in He-4 at T = 0, at momentum transfers up to q similar to 2 Angstrom(-1). Short range correlations are implemented by Correlated Basis Function theory. The total response is in semiquantitative agreement with recent experiments. In addition, the theory is used to evaluate the He-3 single particle energy in the zero concentration limit, showing a clear deviation from the quadratic Landau-Pomeranchuck parametrization.
