This paper demonstrates, through an in-depth linguistic analysis, that the revision of the 2008 Bible adopts contemporary Italian peremptorily and that precisely this adhesion to a medium tone makes it possible to avoid within the text passages distinctly informal and colloquial that would have reduced the scope of the message conveyed by the Holy Scripture. The new orientation of the Church does not derive from linguistic reasons alone but is based primarily on a communicative need and on the desire to bring, in a sincere way, as many believers as possible doser to Church life and to the evangelical message. Popularization is only possible through a work of improvement, simplification and updating with clear and appropriate translations suitable for society across the board.
