摘要
This paper presents, a novel Long Range Wi-Fi based Vehicular network architectural framework for marine fishing vessels, referred to as fishing nodes for providing Internet connectivity to the sea. This work includes the background, concept and proposed communication network framework considering different design challenges in developing a network in an extreme environment scenario. To evaluate the proposed marine VANET communication framework, link budget parameters have been considered and measured in real environment to ensure guaranteed link quality up to 45 km from the sea to the infrastructure base station located in the offshore. This work further discusses the open issues, challenges and opportunities for further research to improve Quality of Service (QoS) for a large scale of network of fishing nodes.
