An increase in the breakdown strength of a vacuum gap with an insulator

摘要
It is shown that the electric breakdown strength of a vacuum gap with an insulator decreases as a result of pores in brazed joints between electrodes appearing after a low-temperature bake-out. The main regularities of the physical processes developing in the pores of the electrode surface and determining all types of disturbances of vacuum insulation at low electric field strengths are considered. Methods for the suppression of the appearance of pores after the bake-out, which is necessary for degassing the electrodes, are offered.
