Smart hydrothermal synthesis and excellent magnetic properties of monodisperse pumpkin-like CeO2 nanostructures

摘要
The monodisperse pumpkin-like CeO2 nanostructures with a diameter of 300-400 nm have been successfully synthesized via a smart hydrothermal technology. XRD, SEM, XPS, Raman scattering and M-H curve were employed to characterize the samples. The results showed that the pumpkin-like CeO2 owned a fluorite cubic structure and there are Ce3+ ions and oxygen vacancies in surface of samples. The M-H curve of pumpkin-like CeO2 nanostructures exhibits excellent room-temperature ferromagnetism (RTFM), which is likely attributed to the effects of the Ce3+ ions and oxygen vacancies.
