摘要
The sedentary lifestyle, contributed to by long periods of sitting has been observed to have an impact on overall wellbeing. The longest period of sitting by an employee, in an office type setting, is at the desk therefore this is a primary contributor to health issues related to sedentary behaviour. This study presents and evaluates the technical aspects of an Internet of Things framework for monitoring wellbeing in the workplace. The framework is evaluated using "situation assessment" and "actuation" modules that suggest intervention strategies in a workplace environment for the improvement of wellbeing. A vital function of this framework is to accurately monitor the time an employee is sedentary. Based on evaluation results, it was observed that there was a maximum difference of 0.27% in activity level measured by the IoT framework when compared with manual monitoring techniques. The evaluation has demonstrated that the IoT framework was able to detect the duration of active and inactive phases of physical activity with a lower rate of error when compared with manual techniques for monitoring physical activity.
