摘要
This paper summarizes the development of open-source protocol stacks in OpenAirInterface (OAI) Narrowband Internet of-Things (NB-IoT) enhanced Node B (eNB) project based on 3GPP Release 13 (R'13) standard. We focus on the design of medium access control (MAC) layer for NB-IoT eNB since the other layers are developed based on existing stacks of OAI Long-Term Evolution (LTE) eNB. The main function blocks of the medium access control (MAC) layer and the flowcharts of the major functions are elaborated. This work can be a starting point for the researchers to contribute to the open-source community to support 5G massive machine-type communication services.
