An electrochemical corrosion study of SAE1045 steel in polyacrylamide gel and sodium chloride surroundings

摘要
The electrochemical corrosion property of SAE1045 steel in polyacrylamide gel (PAM) surroundings with sodium chloride was investigated by using linear sweep voltammetry (LSV) method. Results showed that with the increase of PAM, the self-corrosion current decreased from 3.3 +/- 0.4 mu A down to 0.7 +/- 0.2 mu A. This indicates that the polymer gels prevented the diffusion of the corrosion products, and the corrosion products kept on the surface of the steel and prevented further corrosion of the steel.
