摘要
The requirement of flexibility in manufacturing systems depends upon the uncertainties in the environment and the service level required. This flexibility is generally achieved by incorporating automation components like CNC machines, automated material handling systems, Robots etc. To get the best results from a system, it is essential that these three aspects, namely manufacturing flexibility, market uncertainty and use of automation and advance manufacturing technology should be considered together. This paper reviews the various issues linking these aspects and presents an empirical study to reveal the linkages, if any, in these aspects.
