Exploiting guided waves for materials characterization in plates

摘要：
Guided waves can provide highly accurate and precise determinations of elastic properties in plate-like structures, where acoustic energy is introduced into the plate through fluid or air immersion. We have shown that in order to deduce accurate property information, it is necessary to account properly for all the experimental and geometrical effects of the measurement. With this model and a suitable method for testing the goodness of fit of inferred elastic parameters to measured data, we show results for several materials.
