摘要
Construction waste has wide-ranging impacts on the environment, community and economy. Excessive generation of construction waste without proper control and management could cause pollution to the environment. Barriers to good waste management practices add weakness to the construction waste control system. This paper presents the current status of construction waste control system in Ipoh, Malaysia. Through a series of site audit, this study has identified several barriers to good waste management practices faced at construction sites including level of knowledge, waste operational costs and lack of guidelines by the local authority. Recommendations are made in order to improve construction waste management in Ipoh based on the strengths, weakness, opportunities and threats of the current waste control system.
