摘要：

Virtual Reality makes an ideal statistical environment for both data analysis and methodological research. In the past, statisticians have been discouraged from exploring its potential, due to the high cost of hardware and software. Now with the advent of the Virtual Reality Modeling Language (VRML), statisticians can create and share virtual statistical worlds over the Internet. We discuss some of the possible applications and make reference to some specific examples.
