摘要
In this study, a new approach using optical fiber sensor based on a single fiber Bragg grating (FBG) is proposed to overcome the cost and complexity limitations. The reflected frequency of the half-etched region is shifted by utilizing a half-etched uniform FBG as the sensing element. The proposed sensor is evaluated using the refractive index measurement technique, and its validity is demonstrated by subjecting it to temperature variations. A sensitivity of - 524.48 MHz/degrees C is exhibited by the proposed sensor over a dynamic range of about 25 degrees C to 70 degrees C. It is demonstrated that the proposed sensor is highly sensitive, cost-effective, and reduces the complexity of the manufacturing and measurement process. This novel approach has significant potential for applications in various fields, including biomedical sensing, environmental monitoring, and industrial process control.
